Description

In this workshop, children will learn about:

  • Veterinary checks and health needs
  • Animal behaviour (how to tell if your pet animal is unwell)
  • Basic anatomy and physiology of the animal
  • Life stages of the pet animal and appropriate care needed

Activity highlights include:

  • Hands-on experience with items used during vet health checks (eg: microchipping, vaccinations)
  • Learning about animal anatomy and physiology of the animal

*Due to safety and animal welfare considerations, live animals may or may not be used during the teaching of all workshops. A classroom environment can be stressful for an animal and studies have shown that replacements, such as puppetry and animal models can achieve similar learning outcomes. Where live animals are used, the activity will be under the direct supervision and instruction of a veterinarian to ensure the welfare of the animal and safety of the class. The participants’ amount of direct interaction with the animal is not guaranteed. We seek your understanding that in introducing the exciting world of animals to our children, safeguarding animal welfare and our participants’ safety remains an important priority to us and something which we wish to inculcate in our participants during our class.
