Microscopy Discovery Class with Microscopy Kit

What is this? Why is it like this? How does it do that?

This 2-hour programme aims to satisfy a child’s natural curiosity and encourage them to take charge of their own learning – all with a microscope! Children will explore specimens from nature and have opportunities to practise their investigative, questioning, and observational skills – not without playing games and meeting new friends!

Each child will receive a Microscopy Discovery Box as part of the programme, includes a digital microscope, an activity book, and curated specimens.

Beyond the workshop, the digital microscope provides hours of endless fun and learning opportunities for children to discover the microscopic natural world (example ideas: pollens, insects, seashells).

Highlights of the Microscopy Discovery 1.0 workshop:

Suitable for children 6 to 12 years old
The programme includes a Microscopy Discovery Box with a digital microscope* (1000x magnification), specially selected specimens (e.g. feathers, fur, scales) and curated activity book

(Requires a laptop/ desktop. Requires Windows 10 or Mac. Suitable for some Android phones only. Not suitable for iPhone)

What types of activities will the children do?

Investigate some animal body coverings and natural items found in the environment
Find out about how microscopes are used in a veterinary setting
Learn how to collect natural specimens respectfully and take charge of their own learning

What to expect for Microscopy Discovery 1.0 Workshop?

Our classes will be conducted by veterinarians and educators
We will be exploring animal and plant specimens that can be found in Singapore
Smaller class sizes which allows individual attention and support

What does the activity book cover?

The activities book contains easy to follow instruction and explanations covering the topics below. The activities are based on the specimens that are provided in the kit.

Attended the “Animal and Us” workshop and my boy absolutely love it! Dr. Han was patient and taught the children on how to interpret animal’s emotion and the responsibility involved in having a pet. Dr Han and his team were very welcoming and interactive towards the children. They were also very patient in answering every child’s question. The sessions were very informative and presented well. The relevance of story and the showcased animal was spot on, could tell the kids learnt a lot from that one animal. Even after the session, the children were still talking about the animal and looked forward to the next session. Dr Han and his team did a great job! 👍🏻

We would like to extend a warm thank you to Dr Han, a veterinarian, from the Animals and Us Academy for organizing an amazing zoom session for the p1s and p2s of Meridian Primary School. Not only was the session very informative but it was also very interesting. It made learning so much more fun for our young learners. The talk was very clear and concise and could hold the students' attention throughout the interactive and engaging session. It was a great job done and we are looking forward to having more of such sessions with you, Dr Han.

My kids attended the “Hamster and Rabbit” workshop and they simply loved it. They enjoyed learning about the feeding habits of rabbits and the proper way to look after small animals.
