‘Keeping Animals Healthy’ Workshops (Ages 6-12)

Being the best guardians for our pet animals!

In this species-specific series, dive deep into the health of our pet animals and how to help them lead a happy, healthy life. Classes are curated and conducted by veterinarians and animal educators. Class sizes are kept small to allow for individual attention and support.

Keeping Dogs Healthy

In this workshop, children will learn about:

Veterinary checks and health needs
Animal behaviour (how to tell if your pet animal is unwell?)
Basic anatomy and physiology of the animal
Life stages of the pet animal and appropriate care needed

Activity highlights include:

Hands-on experience with items used during vet health checks (eg: microchipping, vaccinations)
Learning about animal anatomy and physiology through models and other media
Pet animal interaction* and practise reading animal behaviour

*No live animals will be used during the workshop due to safety and animal welfare considerations. A classroom environment can be quite stressful for an animal and studies have shown that replacements, such as puppetry and animal soft toys achieve similar learning outcomes. This course is run by our veterinarians who are passionate in introducing the exciting world of animals to our children.

Attended the “Animal and Us” workshop and my boy absolutely love it! Dr. Han was patient and taught the children on how to interpret animal’s emotion and the responsibility involved in having a pet. Dr Han and his team were very welcoming and interactive towards the children. They were also very patient in answering every child’s question. The sessions were very informative and presented well. The relevance of story and the showcased animal was spot on, could tell the kids learnt a lot from that one animal. Even after the session, the children were still talking about the animal and looked forward to the next session. Dr Han and his team did a great job! 👍🏻

We would like to extend a warm thank you to Dr Han, a veterinarian, from the Animals and Us Academy for organizing an amazing zoom session for the p1s and p2s of Meridian Primary School. Not only was the session very informative but it was also very interesting. It made learning so much more fun for our young learners. The talk was very clear and concise and could hold the students' attention throughout the interactive and engaging session. It was a great job done and we are looking forward to having more of such sessions with you, Dr Han.

My kids attended the “Hamster and Rabbit” workshop and they simply loved it. They enjoyed learning about the feeding habits of rabbits and the proper way to look after small animals. Dr Han was ever so friendly and patient with their endless questions. The team from “Animal and Us” have done an awesome job. I know because my kids can’t wait to sign up for the next one!
