Adopt, Don’t Shop!
This first-ever AAU and SPCA parent-child programme covers what cats need to be happy and healthy and a behind-the-scenes tour of the veterinary clinic.
Suitable for children aged 6 to 12, accompanied by 1 parent

Join us to learn about animal shelters and how to keep our furry felines happy and healthy! Conducted by Animals and Us Academy veterinarians and SPCA officers, participants will find out about what #SPCASingapore does and get a rare opportunity to tour the veterinary clinic and see what happens when a cat comes into SPCA.

Proceeds will go to SPCA and for other cost-recovery purposes.

This unique tour provides an overview of the rescue process, as well as a behind-the-scenes tour of the SPCA clinic, conducted by Animals and Us Academy, who will take participants through the different veterinary equipment used and basic veterinary medical checks. You will even get to ask SPCA officers all about their experiences on the ground and the wonderful life-saving secrets that happen in #SPCASingapore!

This a drop-off only event. Parents will drop off and pick up their child at SPCA. Our Animals and Us Academy staff will be present to facilitate the drop off and pick up.

Learning Outcomes:

In this 2-hour Learning Journey with our veterinarians, we will be reinforcing the concepts we learnt about responsible pet ownership, animal health, animal welfare and behaviour. We will also learn about SPCA Singapore and their good work in helping thousands of animals every year. Participants will have the opportunity to meet the animals at the adoption shelter.

*For an optimal learning experience and due to COVID-19 class size restrictions, this Learning Journey is only open to all past students of the Animals and Us Academy and new students who are attending our workshops and programmes, where concepts of responsible pet ownership, animal health, animal welfare and behaviour were/would be covered.

Attended the “Animal and Us” workshop and my boy absolutely love it! Dr. Han was patient and taught the children on how to interpret animal’s emotion and the responsibility involved in having a pet. She loved Dr Han's jokes and is able to share with us knowledge on how to take care of pets. Dr Han is very good with children and engages them with interesting videos and demonstrations like using the microscope to learn about fleas. Thank you for the wonderful experience! 🙂

Dr Han and his team were very welcoming and interactive towards the children. They were also very patient in answering every child’s question. The sessions were very informative and presented well. The relevance of story and the showcased animal was spot on, could tell the kids learnt a lot from that one animal. Even after the session, the children were still talking about the animal and looked forward to the next session. Dr Han and his team did a great job! 👍🏻

We would like to extend a warm thank you to Dr Han, a veterinarian, from the Animals and Us Academy for organizing an amazing zoom session for the p1s and p2s of Meridian Primary School. Not only was the session very informative but it was also very interesting. It made learning so much more fun for our young learners. The talk was very clear and concise and could hold the students' attention throughout the interactive and engaging session. It was a great job done and we are looking forward to having more of such sessions with you, Dr Han.

My kids attended the “Hamster and Rabbit” workshop and they simply loved it. They enjoyed learning about the feeding habits of rabbits and the proper way to look after small animals. Dr Han was ever so friendly and patient with their endless questions. The team from “Animal and Us” have done an awesome job. I know because my kids can’t wait to sign up for the next one!
