Home-Based Learning: Online Microscopy Discovery Class with Microscopy Kit

Enjoy learning and bonding as a family!

The Animals and Us Academy has curated a Home-Based Activity Kit with virtual lessons with our veterinarians for our young ones to explore the natural world in a safe manner!

This home-based activity kit is suitable for the entire family to have hours of fun learning together.

Beyond the workshop, the digital microscope provides hours of endless fun and learning opportunities for parents to discover the microscopic natural world (example ideas: pollens, insects, seashells) with their child.

Highlights of the Microscopy Discovery 1.0 workshop:

Suitable for children 6 to 12 years old
The programme includes a Microscopy Discovery Box with a digital microscope* (1000x magnification), specially selected specimens (e.g. feathers, fur, scales) and curated activity book which parents can complete with their children
The Microscopy Discovery Box will be delivered directly to your house (Requires a laptop/ desktop. Requires Windows 10 or Mac. Suitable for some Android phones only. Not suitable for iPhone)

Highlights of the Microscopy Discovery 2.0 workshop:

Suitable for children 6 to 12 years old
Building on the knowledge from our Microscopy Discovery 1.0 workshop, our veterinarians will bring our participants on a journey to discover more amazing animal and plant specimens that can be found in the natural world around us
Microscopy Discovery Kit (obtained from Microscopy Discovery 1.0 workshop) is required
Participants are required to complete Microscopy Discovery 1.0 prior to signing up for Microscopy Discovery 2.0

What to expect for Online Microscopy Discovery Class?

Our online classes will be conducted by veterinarians
We will be exploring animal and plant specimens that can be found in Singapore
Parents are encouraged to join in for our virtual session
One sign-up is sufficient for the entire family
Smaller class sizes which allows individual attention and support

What does the activity book cover?

The activities book contains easy to follow instruction and explanations covering the topics below. The activities are based on the specimens that are provided in the kit.

Attended the “Animal and Us” workshop and my boy absolutely love it! Dr. Han was patient and taught the children on how to interpret animal’s emotion and the responsibility involved in having a pet. Dr Han and his team were very welcoming and interactive towards the children. They were also very patient in answering every child’s question. The sessions were very informative and presented well. The relevance of story and the showcased animal was spot on, could tell the kids learnt a lot from that one animal. Even after the session, the children were still talking about the animal and looked forward to the next session. Dr Han and his team did a great job! 👍🏻

We would like to extend a warm thank you to Dr Han, a veterinarian, from the Animals and Us Academy for organizing an amazing zoom session for the p1s and p2s of Meridian Primary School. Not only was the session very informative but it was also very interesting. It made learning so much more fun for our young learners. The talk was very clear and concise and could hold the students' attention throughout the interactive and engaging session. It was a great job done and we are looking forward to having more of such sessions with you, Dr Han.

My kids attended the “Hamster and Rabbit” workshop and they simply loved it. They enjoyed learning about the feeding habits of rabbits and the proper way to look after small animals. Dr Han was ever so friendly and patient with their endless questions. The team from “Animal and Us” have done an awesome job. I know because my kids can’t wait to sign up for the next one!
